Special Interests

Adoption - I have an extensive background working with all members of the adoption triad. This includes individual therapy, leading groups, and public speaking.

Filial Therapy - Over the years I have enjoyed teaching parents how to become their children's own therapist. Seeing a parent-child relationship grow has been one of the greatest pleasures of my career.

Therapeutic Assessment - I have spent many years studying therapeutic assessment and, for my dissertation, administered over 90 assessments to women with eating disorders.

Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment with head injury patients - I led a group head-injured patients using an innovative approach that helped the patients develop skills and increase self-confidence.

Therapy - I have worked with both children and adults using interpersonal, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives. My training and employment occurred in hospitals, residential treatment, counseling centers, child guidance centers, and private practice. I have extensive experiences with depression, trauma, adoption issues, anxiety, self disorders, personality disorders, grief, and eating disorders.

Assessment - For my dissertation I studied the effects of Therapeutic Assessment on over 90 women with eating disorders. I have also done numerous more personality, academic and neuropsychological evaluations in my career.

Public Speaking - I enjoy speaking in public and have been doing so professionally since 1987 when I was a psychology instructor at Holy Cross Junior College. I can be booked for professional talks about adoption and parenting, and for case presentations.
